Quick answer: Add up your sub revenue (subs × price × your share, usually 50%), Bits ($0.01 each), ad revenue, and any tips or sponsorships, then take off your costs. For example, 100 subs at $5.99 with a 50% share ($299.50), 5,000 Bits ($50), $70 of ads and $50 of tips make $469.50 a month — about $11.74 an hour over 40 hours.

How Twitch Affiliate income works

The formulas

Sub income = paid subs × average price × your share
Prime income = Prime subs × what you earn per Prime sub
Bits income = Bits × $0.01
Ad income = ad impressions ÷ 1,000 × your ad earnings per 1,000
Paid by Twitch = sub + Prime + Bits + ad income
Monthly income = paid by Twitch + tips + sponsorships + other − costs
Per stream hour = monthly income ÷ hours streamed

Only the “paid by Twitch” part counts towards Twitch’s payout minimum. Tips and sponsorships paid to you directly don’t.

The Plus Program: 60% and 70% splits

Twitch’s Plus Program lets eligible creators earn a higher share of sub revenue — 60% or 70% instead of the standard 50% — by building up enough “Plus Points” from recurring paid subs over three consecutive months. Twitch sets and updates the point thresholds and rules, so check the current details in Twitch’s Plus Program help article before you plan around them.

Twitch’s payout minimum

Twitch lowered its payout minimum to $50 for ACH/direct deposit, eCheck/local bank, PayPal and cheque payouts. Wire transfers still need $100 because of transfer fees. If your Twitch earnings are below the minimum, the balance carries over until you reach it. The calculator shows how many months that takes.

Worked examples

1. A growing weekly streamer

100 subs at $5.99 with a 50% share is $299.50. Add 5,000 Bits ($50), 20,000 ad impressions at $3.50 per 1,000 ($70) and $50 of outside tips: $469.50 a month, or $11.74 per hour over 40 hours. Twitch pays $419.50 of it.

2. A part-time streamer

25 subs at $5.99 (50%) is $74.88, plus 1,500 Bits ($15): $89.88 a month — above the $50 payout minimum every month. Over 20 hours, that’s about $4.49 per hour.

3. A Plus Program streamer on 70%

350 subs at $5.99 with a 70% share is $1,467.55. With 25,000 Bits ($250), that’s $1,717.55 a month before ads, tips or sponsorships.

4. A small channel below the minimum

10 subs at $5.99 (50%) is $29.95, plus 500 Bits ($5): $34.95 a month. That’s under $50, so it carries over; after 2 months the balance is $69.90 and can be paid out.

Tips to earn more on Twitch

  • Stream on a regular schedule. Viewers who know when you’re live come back, and returning viewers are the ones who subscribe.
  • Give subs real value. Emotes, badges and sub-only perks give people reasons to stay subscribed.
  • Make Bits fun. Alerts and on-screen reactions encourage cheering.
  • Plan your ad breaks. Use Twitch’s ad tools to schedule breaks at natural pauses rather than mid-action.
  • Earn beyond the stream. Sponsorships, merch, affiliate links and digital products don’t depend on live hours.
  • Track your hourly rate. If extra hours don’t raise your income, focus on better streams rather than longer ones.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Twitch Affiliate make per sub?

With the standard 50% share, a $5.99 Tier 1 sub is worth about $3.00 to you before any taxes or withholding. On a 60% or 70% Plus Program split you get proportionally more. Prime subs pay a set amount that depends on the viewer’s country.

How much are 1,000 Bits worth?

$10. Affiliates earn $0.01 for every Bit cheered on their channel.

What is Twitch’s minimum payout?

$50 for ACH/direct deposit, eCheck/local bank, PayPal and cheque, and $100 for wire transfers. Below the minimum, your balance carries over to the next month.

How much do Twitch ads pay?

Twitch doesn’t publish a fixed rate — it depends on your audience, region and season. Work out your own rate from your dashboard: ad revenue ÷ ad impressions × 1,000.

How do I get a 60% or 70% split?

Through Twitch’s Plus Program, which rewards creators who keep enough recurring paid subs over three consecutive months. Check Twitch’s help centre for the current thresholds.

Does the currency selector convert my numbers?

No. It only changes the symbol shown. Twitch’s payout minimum is in US dollars, so the payout timing uses the numbers as entered.
